Description
Català: Verònica de Crist, Antoniazzo Romano (taller), tremp i oli sobre taula, 42 x 33 cm. Principis del segle XVI, museu catedralici de Sogorb.

Peça relacionable amb l'art de Antoniazzo Aquilini "il Romno" (doc 1452 - 1508), i que segueix en part la Verònica de Crist d'aquest autor conservada al Museu del Prado, va haver de pertànyer, amb tota probabilitat, a un ostesori del qual ha desaparegut el seu muntatge, no existint indicis que portés un revers amb la figura de Maria. El seu origen caldria buscar-lo, bé com a porteta d'un sagrari bé com a part d'un altar situat a la capella de la Santa Creu del claustre de la catedral, també coneguda a nivell popular des del set-cents com a capella de la Santa Faç, segurament reaprofitada i instal·lada en aquest lloc, des d'una procedència molt diversa, al segle XVIII.
