Description
Nederlands: DRONGELEN - De gaswinning uit het gasveld Waalwijk-Noord, wat in het noordelijkste puntje Drongelen erbij betrekt, gaat omhoog. Dat zijn althans de plannen van het ministerie van Economische Zaken.

Het ministerie wil gasbedrijf Vermilion toestemming geven 1,5 miljard kubieke meter extra aardgas te winnen uit het gasveld. Een deel van dat gasveld ligt onder Drongelen.

Het Brabantse statenlid en lijsttrekker van CDA Altena, Roland van Vugt, is verbaasd: ‘’Minister Wiebes heeft verklaard dat ze het gas gaan minderen naar nul met het oog op Groningen en wat we nu lezen is dat het in Brabant wordt opgeschaald’’. Hij heeft vragen gesteld aan de provincie.

In juni 2017 heeft Vermilion al een verzoek ingediend, daarop adviseerde de gemeente Aalburg geen toestemming te verlenen voor het hydraulisch stimuleren. Bij deze methode, die Fracking heet, worden chemicaliën gebruikt. Deze techniek is omstreden omdat er kans is op aardschokken.
