Description
Català: Les MAPK poden ser activades per citocines inflamatòries, factors de creixement o estímuls d'estrès ambiental. Les diferents cinases que intervenen en el corrent alt d'aquesta via destinades a activar la p38 són les MAPKKKs (MAP cinasa cinasa cinasa) i MAPKKs (MAP cinasa cinasa).

S'estableix un punt de relació amb la via de JNKs, un altre gran tipus de MAPK, per tal de fer èmfasi de la possibilitat de co-activació entre ambdós.

Tanmateix, els substrats pertanyents al corrent baix d'aquest enzim, com factors de transcripció entre d'altres, seran activats per mitjà d'una fosforilació, després de la qual desencadenaran processos biològics com a resposta elaborada envers els estímuls.
