| Description |
c/n 264. Built 1958 as G-AOYO for BEA (British European Airways). Sold in May 1968, she flew for BKS Air Transport which was then renamed Northeast Airlines in November 1970. In July 1973 Northeast became part of the new British Airways, and G-AOYO joined the fleet, eventually operated the last BA Viscount flight in March 1982. After a period in store she was sold to British Air Ferries and was operated by them from February 1984. In September 1985 she was sold to LAC (Lineas Aereas Canarias) and was reregistered as EC-DXU. Finally withdrawn from use in May 1989, she was stored at Los Rodeos Airport where she remains today. Previously on display, she is now used for non-destructive fire training on a small hard area past the Eastern end of the main ramp. Tenerife North Airport, Canary Islands. 20-1-2016 |
