DescriptionVictims of the Terrorist Attack on the Pentagon Memorial - casket team - Arlington National Cemetery - 2002-09-12.jpg |
English: An eight-man casket team, composed of two representatives from each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, carries the casket from Memorial Amphitheater to a horse-drawn caisson during the funeral service at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, U.S., on September 12, 2002. The funeral was for those five individuals for whom no remains could be identified after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the Pentagon. The remains of 25 others (the majority of whose remains had been identified and buried months earlier; additional remains had been found, however) were cremated, interred in an urn, the urn placed in a casket, and the casket interred beneath the Victims of Terrorist Attack on the Pentagon Memorial. Troops from the Army's 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) await the casket by the caisson. |
