Trees, lawn, and picnic tables occupy a wide view beyond the concrete edge of a sidewalk.

Montrose Park. The view north from the Entrance Ellipse originated during the estate era. The Ellipse is just east of the original mansion site. Peasless wrote on his 1917 drawing that the "axis is determined by the two existing trees." This shifted the view to an open expanse of land to the north
