View of the Poplar Island ship yards during the construction of wooden ships for World War 1

Original caption: "
Photograph shows a roof top view of the Poplar Island ship yards during the construction wooden ships for use in World War 1 by the Imperial Munitions Board. Shows the work yard as well as the ship yard with the City of New Westminster behind in the distance as well as the bridge to Poplar Island. The ship to the far right is likely the War Comox the other three ships built were the War Ewen, War Edensaw, and War Kitimat. Also shows the river front on the north bank of the Fraser River and the Queensborough shore which would include lumber and paper mills, a box factory, a ship yard and possibly a cannery. Also note the Department of Public Work dredge King Edward at dock in Queensborough.
