Summary edit

Description
English: View south across the former RAF Penrhos airfield This is the direction from which the Luftwaffe used to arrive out of the sea, which they did on six occasions in 1940. Serious damage was caused by the first raid on 9th July, and two young officers, F/O Page and P/O Jones, were killed. Further damage resulted from raids on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th and 10th of October, but fortunately without any further fatalities. There can be little doubt that the arson attack by a trio of Nationalists in September 1936 had made German Intelligence very aware of the airfield's existence. As a result of these raids elements of No.312 (Czech) Sqn were moved in to protect Penrhos, thus establishing the continuing link between our Eastern and Central European allies and Penrhos.
