Français : Un peu à l'écart de l'axe Thiers-Vichy, Châteldon, Puy de Dôme, doit une grande part de sa notoriété à Pierre Laval (1883-1945), enfant du village, chef de gouvernement du Mal Pétain sous Vichy.
Il est à ce titre, le grand artisan de la collaboration du nouveau régime, avec les autorités d'occupation. Fortune faite, il rachète au début des années 1930, le château que l'on voit sur l'image, le réaménageant de fond en comble (propriété privée, ne se visite pas). Il se porte acquéreur, à la même époque, de la source minérale du village, relance sa production. L'eau gazeuse de Châteldon existe toujours aujourd'hui, vendue en bouteilles de verre produites dans la localité voisine de Puy-Guillaume, mais dont la diffusion demeure des plus confidentielle. |
