DescriptionVillage name stone - geograph.org.uk - 1435535.jpg |
English: Village name stone In the Gaeltacht it is common for villages to be marked with an inscribed stone, as is this one for Camus Iochtair. In the distance there can be seen the head of a sea inlet with its fringe of seaweed, and the far-off, symmetrical peaks of Lettermore Island. The foreground is the edge of a large blanket bog which stretches for many kilometres to the northeast. |
