Danske tropper bevogter den nordlige side af jernbanebroen over Ejderen og tyske tropper den sydlige. Byen i baggrunden er Rendsborg beliggende på en ø midt i Ejderen. Bemærk det slesvig-holstenske flag over byen.
English: Danish outposts at the northern end of the railway bridge across the Eider. The distant town is Rendsburg, held by German forces that guard the southern end of the bridge. Note the Schleswig-Holsteinish flag flying over Rendsburg. Contemporary illustration of the 1864 German-Danish War.

Dansk: Denne bog er en samling af illustrationer tegnet af i alt 18 forskellige kunstnere. Dette billede er skabt af Carl Bøgh (1827-1893) [1] og Carl Neumann (1833-1891).[2] Første gang aftrykt i Illustreret Tidende, nr. 227, d. 31/1-1864, side 146.[3] Ophavsmændene til dette billede døde for mere end 70 år siden og ophavsretten er derfor udløbet.
English: This book is a compilation of illustrations by 18 different artists. This image was created by Carl Bøgh (1827-1893) [4] and Carl Neumann (1833-1891). [5] First printed in Illustreret Tidende, No. 227, 31 January 1864, page 146.[6] The authors of this illustration died more than 70 years ago, and this image is consequently in the Public Domain.
