Description	English: A U.S. Navy Vought F8U-1 Crusader (BuNo 145363) of Fighter Squadron 211 (VF-211) "Checkmates" in flight, in 1962. VF-211 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 21 (CVG-21) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CVA-19) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 2 February to 7 October 1962. Under the tri-service designation system, officially introduced on 18 September 1962, the F8U-1 was redesignated F-8A.
