Description
English: U.S. Navy Specialist (T) 3rd Class Dorothy Knee and Specialist (T) Genevieve Close direct aircraft arrivals and departures from the control tower at Naval Air Station Anacostia, Washington D.C. (USA), in early or mid-1943. The planes on the field at left include Grumman F6F Hellcat, Beechcraft GB and Howard GH types. Those in the center and at right include North American SNJ Texan, Grumman F4F Wildcat, Douglas SBD Dauntless and Brewster SB2A Buccaneer types. All have the circle and star insignia that was used until July 1943.
The Control Tower Operator rating, Specialist (T), was changed to Specialist (Y) in October 1943.
