| Description |
English: The back of an unarmed Norwegian police man in dark greatcoat and British Brodie helmet on guard in the Karl Johans gate Street in Oslo, Norway in April 1940, during the first days of the German invasion and occupation of Norway in World War II. Also more police officers and a Norwegian police car. The city police helped maintaining law and order when the invading German troops marched into the city on April 9. Civilian pedestrians/bystanders have gathered on the pavement along the street, as spectactors to a possible German military parade etc.
Norsk bokmål: Foto fra Karl Johans gate i Oslo 11.-13. april 1940, under de første dagene av den tyske invasjonen og okkupasjonen av Norge under andre verdenskrig. Bildet viser en norsk politimann som ordensvakt i gata. Han er iført mørk uniformsfrakk og bukser med beiser (render i sidene), er uten våpen, men utstyrt med britisk stålhjelm og skulderveske (trolig med gassmaske). På fortauet har folk samla seg som tilskuere, trolig til et forestående militært tysk markering i sentrum av landets hovedstad. Bildet viser også en politibil merka med «Politipatrulje». I bakgrunnen sees Slottet. Politiet sørga for ro og orden under tyskernes innmarsj 9. april. Fotografiet er tatt av Henriksen & Steen. Kopien er henta fra Nasjonalbibliotekets bildesamling og er beskåret. Bildet er offentlig eiendom og allemannseie. |
