Description
English: World War I-era heating plant chimneys are demolished on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in September 1935. The three temporary buildings, for use by the U.S. Department of War, were constructed on the National Mall between 7th and 9th Streets in 1918. A heating plant with two 150-foot-high chimneys was constructed as part of this development.
