（下圖）土耳其的四十萬軍隊，係歐洲實力最雄偉的一部，其新兵大部係來自安那托利亞，四月七日新兵一部正乘火車前往受訓。新兵的月薪祗相等於美鈔三角五分，但有制服一兩套，一種是夏季的，一種是冬季的。軍中粮食亦簡單，以麵包、豆及飯為主。土國是不須征兵的，凡是入伍年齡的男子，均須服務軍中。圖中新兵係一九五三年度之入伍士兵，他們的股役期間是兩年。
English: Translation of the Chinese caption:

"Turkish soldiers with a monthly salary of 0.35 USD

(Picture below) Turkey’s 400,000-strong army is the most powerful in Europe. Most of its recruits come from Anatolia. On 7 April, a group of new recruits were taking a train to receive training. The monthly salary of new recruits is only the equivalent of 0.35 USD, but they are provided with one or two sets of uniforms, one for summer and one for winter. The food in the army is also simple, mainly bread, beans and rice. There is no need for conscription in Turkey, and all men of enlistment age are required to serve in the army. The new recruits in the picture were enlisted in 1953, and their service period was two years."
