Summary edit

Description

A fine group of ladies gathered to organise supply for War Hospitals. I like the way Poole has organised his group for symmetry! Any comments on the punctuation of the title would be welcomed.

I am surprised we have not established an exact location for this excellent group photograph EDIT latest information is that this was probably taken at the back of the Model School on Water Street which was where the Waterford depot was.

I think it is fair to say that it is likely to be Waterford and on that basis it is likely from the notes below that the seven ladies in the photo are included in the following list.

1 Marchioness of Waterford, Chairman 2 Mrs Bromhead 3 Mrs J. N White representing Waterford 4 Mrs Walker representing Portlaw 5 Miss Fleming representing Portlaw 6 Mrs Gallwey representing Tramore 7 Mrs Kenny representing Tramore 8 Mrs Goff Manageress of the workroom 9 Mrs Ford Deputy Manageress 10 Mrs H Ridgway Hon Sec

These ladies make up the committee of The War Hospital Supply Depots Waterford Branch, it seems that the depots manufactured field dressings which were used in WW1.

We also are treated to a very interesting piece on the use of Sphagnum Moss in field dressings.
