English: Waters Meeting, Bridgewater Canal The main line of the Bridgewater Canal runs from left (from Runcorn) to right (to Manchester), while the Leigh Branch, which crosses the Manchester Ship Canal by Barton Aqueduct, and makes an end-on junction at Leigh with a branch of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Thus this junction is an extremely important point on the waterway network. |
