DescriptionWaterside "shunting car" - 1973 (1) (geograph 3481741).jpg |
English: Waterside "shunting car" - 1973 (1) As Martin Baumann correctly says in his comments on C4416 : 70-class No. 73 at Waterside, the volume of CIE freight traffic to/from Waterside required the employment of a "shunting car" to assist in organising the wagons received or to be dispatched on the nightly 70-class hauled Dublin freight. Up to the mid-1970s, this "shunting car" was usually a UTA built MPD unit, generally delivered to Waterside on the back of the 70-class set forming the 08.05 passenger working from York Road. Seen at Waterside on an unrecorded date, probably in 1973, MPD 36 shunts two CIE 4-wheel vans under the watchful eye of shunter Johnny Sweeney. |
