English: Well Dressing 2008: The Evendine Spring The theme of this year's well dressing competition is Dr John Wall (1708-1776). He is often regarded as the original founder of the Malvern Water Cure after determining the purity of the water at the Holy Well. A ditty in a popular magazine went "The Malvern Water" said Dr John Wall "is famous for containing ... just nothing at all!". The dressers of the well have added the following lines (new to me) 'Tell me doctor - Dr John Wall, Which is the purest spring of all?' "Holywell, T'was my famous test - But Evendine is much the best!" |
