Description

CVS944T was brand new at the time of the photograph. Wells had purchased 2 identical Ford - Duple coaches 943/4 plus a shorter Ford with Plaxton bodywork, 942.

I have a feeling that the sign beside the pale coloured door with letter box once said "Hall's Coaches" which Wells acquired pre-1970. One or two coaches with Harrington and Thurgood bodies still ran in Hall's light blue and cream livery in the early days of the Wells takeover

The address of the Hall operation here was 7 Queen Street , Maldon. Later Wells coaches were listed as new to Wells of Maldon, though the registered address remained at 2 Glebefield Road Hatfield Peverel long after the yard in that villaged closed in the very early 1970s.
