Description
English: West Pier and shingle, Brighton, Great Britain. Waves lap the shingle, while the remains of Brighton's West Pier occupy the background. The West Pier opened in 1866, but was declared unsafe in 1975 causing its closure. Heritage Lottery funding was received in 1998 to enable the pier to be restored, however the structure was destroyed by fire in 2003.
