| Description |
English: White Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 480 East Utica Street at Wohlers Avenue, Buffalo, New York, April 2020. Erected in 1910, this imposing Norman Gothic-style church sports a motif of blunt ogee arches crowning the most prominent windows as well as the entrance which is incorporated into the base of a crenellated steeple. Its original owners were the Memorial Evangelical Church, which traces its history back to 1892 when the former First Evangelical Church established a Sunday school as a mission to the growing German-speaking immigrant communities in the Cold Spring area. Memorial Evangelical was extant until at least 1942; White Rock Missionary Baptist, who previously held services at a location on Peckham Street, moved into the building in 1977. |
