Deutsch: Das neuartige Coronavirus 2019-nCoV wurde erstmals im Dezember in Wuhan entdeckt, verbreitet sich seither in hohem Tempo in weiteren Provinzen in China und in 27 weiteren Ländern. Mit jedem Tag, an dem die Ausbreitung nicht kontrolliert wird, steigt die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass sich die Epidemie zu einer Pandemie entwickelt. Wie gut wäre unsere vernetzte Welt, wären Europa und Deutschland auf diesen Fall vorbereitet? Was wissen wir aktuell über die Schwere der zu erwartenden Infektionswellen? Wieso unterscheiden sich die Sterberaten in der Provinz Hubei und im Rest der Welt?
Die Wissenschaft ist quasi live dabei, den Erreger zu verstehen und seine Eigenheiten zu entschlüsseln. Forschende haben bereits eine Menge über 2019-nCoV gelernt, aber welche Wissenslücken verbleiben? Bei diesem gemeinsam von der Nationalen Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina und dem Science Media Center Germany veranstalteten Pressbriefing diskutieren wichtige in Deutschland handelnde Wissenschaftler und Mediziner den aktuellen Stand des Wissens. Wie ist das neuartige Coronavirus entstanden, wie ansteckend ist der Erreger, wie viele der Infizierten sterben? Mit welcher Dynamik wird sich das Virus weiterverbreiten, welche Entwicklung ist in den nächsten Wochen und Monaten zu erwarten? Wie wird der Erreger bei Infizierten in Deutschland behandelt? Was würde auf Deutschlands Krankenhäuser zukommen, wenn sich auch hierzulande sich selbst erhaltende Infektionsketten etablieren? Welche Maßnahmen der Ausbreitungskontrolle sind aus Sicht der Wissenschaft sinnvoll, welche wären Aktionismus? |
