| Description |
English: Vietnam veteran William Adams, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, leads an LBJ Presidential Library discussion about the daily reality of serving on the front lines. The panel discussion was part of the library's Vietnam War Summit on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
"The Troops: A View from the Front Lines" included four panelists who are Vietnam War veterans: Liz Allen, PhD, a former Army nurse; John Sibley Butler, a Bronze Star recipient; Isaac “Ike” Camacho, first American POW to escape from a prisoner of war camp in Vietnam and recipient of the Bronze Star, two Silver Stars and two Purple Hearts; and Ken Wallingford, former POW and recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. Allen is former director of continuing education at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Butler is director of the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship at the McCombs School of Business, The University of Texas at Austin.
