Description
English: In this December 2020 view southward down Woodward Avenue from the north end of Grand Circus Park, the David Broderick Tower (left ) and the David Whitney Building (right) rise in the background, while in the foreground at far left is seen the statue of William C. Maybury (1848-1909) sculpted by Adolph Alexander Weinman and unveiled in 1912. Maybury was a local attorney turned Democratic Congressman and eventually mayor of Detroit, and a political rival of Hazen S. Pingree (1840-1901), his predecessor as mayor who has his own statue on the opposite corner of Woodward.
