Description Gold ring from Winchester Cathedral in Winchester, England. Exhibit tag reads: "Ring, second quarter of the 16th century. Gold set with an oval gemstone. 106. The ring was found in the tomb of Stephen Gardiner, Bishop of Winchester 1531-1551 and 1553-1556. The bezel is set with a green agate image of a helmetted warrior which has been identified as dating from the 1st century AD, but reworked in the 16th century."
