Summary edit

Description
English: Windsock 2007 This windsock is on the edge of the southern bank of the former RAF Penrhos. This station was opened in 1937 as part of a bombing school operated in conjunction with RAF Hells Mouth. It proved a poor site, the grass runways were far too short and ended here on the southern perimeter with a twenty foot drop. Planes regularly overshot the runways and ended down this bank. The base which closed in 1945 was bombed 6 times by the Luftwaffe. Since WWII the station has been the home of a Polish community of ex-servicemen and their families. It is also the site of the Wakestock Festival.
