The series III Wolseley 12/48 replaced the more rakish series II in 1937. It's 1548cc 4 cylinder overhead valve engine (also used with variations in the MG VA/TA Midget, and series III Morris 12/4) was essentially an update of the series II Morris 12/4 side valve engine. A 4-door saloon, it was rated at 48hp with a top speed of approximately 60mph. Produced from 1937-39 and again as a stop gap model in essentially the same form during the postwar years until 1948, it had leather seats, an opening windscreen, and made use of the innovative Jackall hydraulic jack system at each corner.
