| Description |
English: Wood Green Underground Station, 6 April 2023. The station was opened in September 1932, on the 1932-33 extension of the Piccadilly Line from Finsbury Park to Cockfosters.
The station was designed by Charles Holden, consultant architect to the Underground Electric Railways of London and in European Streamline Moderne style, this particular station being neither his ‘drum’ variety nor his ‘cube’ style but is curved to suit the constraints of the particular corner site. There are two ventilation shaft towers, one higher than the orher. The station is Grade II listed. Pictured is the concourse with decorative railings on a verandha. |
