Description
Nederlands: Rond Aruba vliegt sinds kort regelmatig een onbemand vliegtuigje van Defensie. Op veilige hoogte boven het blauwe water van de Caribische Zee houdt hij in de gaten of er personen illegaal aan land gaan. Dat gebeurt op verzoek van de lokale autoriteiten. Immigranten zouden zomaar het coronavirus bij zich kunnen dragen. Door ze al op zee op te sporen blijft de verspreiding ervan op het eiland beperkt.

Het onbemande, lichtgrijze toestel met dubbele staart is 2.20 meter lang, 4.80 meter breed en vliegt niet alleen langer, maar ook hoger en verder dan z’n voorganger de ScanEagle. Het toestel van fabrikant Boeing-Insitu wordt gebruikt door 107 Aerial Systems Battery (ASBt) van de landmacht-inlichtingeneenheid JISTARC. Sinds kort vliegt een afvaardiging van 107 - het onofficiële X-300-detachement - met het toestel boven Aruba.
