Quintus Petilius Secundus Sohn des Quintus aus dem Stammbezirk Oufentina aus Mailand, Soldat der 15. Legion Primigenia 25 Lebensjahre 5 Dienstjahre der Erbe hat auf Grund des Testaments den Grabstein machen lassen.

Der 15. Legion Primigenia, in der Petilius diente, war seit 13 n.Chr. in Xanten stationiert. Mit der 5. Legion bauten sie das Lager Vetera in Stein und waren dort stationiert, bis das beim Bataveraufstand in 69/70 n.Chr. zerstört wurde.

Petilius trägt Tunika und Schultermantel und als Waffen ein Wurflanze, ein Schwerd und ein Dolch.

Quintus Petilius Secundus, zoon van Quintus, van de stam der Oufentina van Milaan, soldaat van het 15de legioen Primigenia 25 jaar oud met 5 dienstjaren. De erfgenaam heeft op grond van het testament deze grafsteen laten oprichten.

Het vijftiende legioen Primigenia, waar in Petilus diende, was sinds 13 n.C. in Xanten gevstigd, samen met het vijfde legioen. Beide legioenen bouwden kamp Vetara in steen. Het werd vernietigd tijdens de opstand van de Batavieren in 69/70 n.C.

Petilus draagt een tuniek en een schoudermantel, hij heft een zwaard een werplans en een dolk.

Quintus Petilius Secundus, son of Quintus from the tribe of the Oufentina from Milan, soldier of the 15th Legion Primigenia, 25 years old, 5 years in service, the heir has erected this gravestone in compliance with the testament.

The 15th Legion was stationed along with the 5th, in Xanten since 13 AD. Both legions built their camp Vetera in stone. The camp was destroyed by the Bataves during the 69/70 revolt.

Petilius is wearing a tunica and a shoulder cape. He is armed with a lance, a sword and a dagger.
