English: The Queen's Beasts are ten heraldic statues representing the genealogy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted as the Royal supporters of England.
The Yale was a mythical beast, supposedly white and covered with gold spots and able to swivel each of its horns independently. It descends to the Queen through King Henry VII, who inherited it from his mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort. The shield shows a portcullis surmounted by a royal crown. The portcullis (uncrowned) was a Beaufort badge, but was used both crowned and uncrowned by Henry VII.
Italiano: Le Bestie della regina (Queen's Beasts) sono dieci statue araldiche che rappresentano la genealogia della regina Elisabetta II, raffigurano i supporti reali dell'Inghilterra.
L'Eale o Centicaora (in inglese Yale) era una bestia mitica, presumibilmente bianca e ricoperta di macchie d'oro e in grado di ruotare ciascuna delle sue corna indipendentemente. Discende alla regina attraverso il re Enrico VII, che lo ereditò da sua madre, Lady Margaret Beaufort. Lo scudo mostra una saracinesca sormontata da una corona reale. La saracinesca (senza corona) era un distintivo di Beaufort, ma fu usata sia coronata che non coronata da Enrico VII. |
