Description

A Yoshinoya restaurant located on a side street in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.

Tokyo-based Yoshinoya is a familiar name to me due to its locations around Los Angeles. However, I can get little more than cut-rate beef bowls at US locations.

But here in Hong Kong, the menu is much more extensive. I am having a breakfast ramen bowl, for a very good price - HKD $18. Cheaper, and much healthier, than, say, an Egg McMuffin.

  • The kanji for "yoshi" does look like the character 吉, but the top portion is not 士 but 土 (the bottom horizontal stroke is longer than the middle horizontal stroke). However the correct kanji is not part of the normal Japanese character set as it is a very unusual character.
