Description
Deutsch: Zürich-Altstadt : Porträt von Hans Waldmann (* 1435; † 1489) mit der deutlich erkennbaren Bürgermeisterkette an der «Weinstuben Oepfelchammer» am Rindermarkt 12.
Ob das 'Porträt' auf allfälligen historischen Abbildungen basiert, bedarf der Klärung. Waldmann hatte, wie aus der Nachlassverwaltung hervorgeht, ein vergoldetes Halsband aus Silber, seine Bürgermeisterkette. Im 19. Jahrhundert kamen Gerüchte auf, dass sich der Schmuck im Besitz der Familie des Rechtsprofessors Friedrich Ludwig Keller befunden habe, der 1860 in Deutschland starb. 1887 hat die Stadt Zürich eine Kette mit dem Wappen Waldmanns, die 1879 in Deutschland entdeckt wurde, zum damaligen stolzen Preis von 10'000 Mark erworben. In einer grossen Ausstellung zu Waldmanns 400. Todestag wurde die Bürgermeisterkette gezeigt, zusammen mit, wie im Ausstellungskatalog von 1889 vermerkt war: «Ledernes Kästchen aus dem Schatz des Grossmünsters, enthaltend einen Zahn von Hans Waldmann».
