It was purchased by him, alive, in the Isle ofFrance, where it had been brought in a trading vessel fromNew Guinea: but it unfortunately died on its passage toEngland. We feel happy, that in recording this new and beautifulbird, an early opportunity is given us of commemoratingour deep sense of the kindness we received from a youngnaturalist of France, whose writings have already acquiredcelebrity, and who promises to inherit the great and com-manding talents of his illustrious father.
