File talk:Afro.jpg

This image is not an afro, but a wig. First, the clarity of the wig is sharper than on the face of the wearer. Second, afros don't grow lik this. In fact, it looks like it was expanded via photoshop. --DavidShankbone 21:06, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I took the picture, and I swear that's not a wig. Of course, it was not edited with any software, only to reduce the original image to see only the guy. Original picture is here (I have more pictures, where you can see this guy, but that's the only one where you can see his face), so you can see why it's blurry. It was taken in a Hip hop festival, so the guy was not doing any joke, but just showing his unique style. Faking is not a very good style in Hip hop, but showing how cool you are is good.
I know this photo is extrange, but believe me, it's real. I do not win anything by defending it, but I was the only one in this talk who was there and see that guy. I don't want to make a joke, my contributions to commos are all serious, as you can see (of course in es.wikipedia too). Anyway, I know that the word of a casual (but sincere) contributor means nothing to some people.
And, BTW, afros do not grow by themselves, they has to be brushed, and brushing can do incredible things with your hair. Steve-o 08:13, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Steve, unfortunately your photo is not considered by most editors, especially by those who are established, to be reflective of an Afro; also, the technical quality of it leaves much to be desired. Part of the problem is that most people don't think it looks like an Afro, whether it is or is not, and would thus be misleading to a casual viewer who is not privy to your declarations. That is, after all, what we are hoping to achieve. We want a person to look at the photo and go, "Ah, that's an Afro" not, "Is that a wig?" Many of your other photos are quite good. Unfortunately, this photo has been the subject of much controversy by several anonymous IPs who have made efforts to vandalize the English Wikipedia against overwhelming consensus by established editors on the w:Afro page. Please don't take it personally. --DavidShankbone 15:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
