I don't see anything wrong with the modifications done by Kontributor on the file:

• the Projet:Blasons recommends 3px (max) for the traits and outlines of the charges, which wasn't the case before (5.7px for the antlers and 3.8px for the head);
• the file was cleaned and its code errors/warnings fixed;
• it respects the guidelines of COM:OW (minor improvements) and I, personally, don't see how these changes could be seen as controversial.--Thom.lanaud (talk) 21:53, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

Could you please explain us why the redirection shouldn't be changed, though there isn't any page linking towards it, and though it does lead to the wong CoA file (actual family's CoA is Luart.svg) ? Currently, when searching for Gras du Luart, it will also return the wrong file Blason d'azur au rencontre de cerf d'or.svg… It's as if a page named "white picture 1" redirects to a page named "black picture", instead of redirecting to the existing "white picture" page…

I think this is a negative point, regarding the user experience and the logic of data organization on commons.

Redirections shouldn't be changed as images may be linked elsewhere (ie blogs, news articles) and I've never known redirects to be changed in the 8 years of being here –Davey2010^Talk 10:56, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Thank you Davey2010, this is a higly defensible point of view.

Nevertheless, if there were links to this image, which is very unlikely, they would be, wrongly, to what is thought to be the family's coat of arms and not to the stag itself, thus the redirection would really have to be corrected. If the links existed for the stag design itself, then the new redirection would still show a stag, three heads instead of one, which would not be a big deal.

In comparison, I think that the fact that this image wrongly comes up in the search results is a larger issue. Don't you ?

Hi, Thing is we don't know what is linked where so all for anyone knows this may be linked somewhere, As I said I've never known redirects to be changed in all the years I've been here however you certainly have a valid point,

My suggestion would be to go to COM:HELPDESK and see what people there say as just because I've never seen it be done doesn't mean it doesn't happen if that makes sense, Obviously if people there agree with the redirect change then I would revert, Thanks, –Davey2010^Talk 11:33, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

I read this page : Exceptions #2 says : "If the redirect is wrong or misleading" which is the case for the one I've asked deletion for, thus removing it would be an fine alternative to change its target as this change is not possible. Ain't it right ?

Helpdesk is a lot for a simple redirect misleading that could, according to the meta-wiki page, be simply deleted. to prevent wrong search results.

Hi K, Sorry to be anal but that's Meta not Commons - different projects and different rules,

My understanding is that DRs are for files only,

Helpdesk is exactly that - to seek help for something, We don't have English WPs equivalent of en:WP:3O so to me the helpdesk would be the next best thing,

I'm truly sorry if seems like I'm being anal but as I said I've never seen these redirect-changed and I don't want to agree and then find out no you shouldn't so if you ask someone who knows whether you should or shouldn't then you might get further with this all, Thanks, –Davey2010^Talk 18:57, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

I'm neither a renamer nor a deleter. As a simple contributor I've done what was possible. I know now that you're aware of problems that can occur after renaming files, this could lead to further improvements in file management, if for you going this way may seem relevant.

But eventually, that's not my task down here.
