An authentic print reproduced here shows a color scheme much more in keeping with good taste and the nature of the scene (an impoverished monk under a night sky, rather than a courtesan in the Bahamas). Hi Haiduc. No need to get excited here. The original image is quite colorfull indeed, but that's really in keeping with usual Japanese woodblock prints. On the contrary your image seems very faded, and, no offense intended, rather less attractive. Regards PHGCOM 20:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

While I agree that Japanese prints can exhibit very bright colors indeed, here they are garish and unintentionally comical. If you will notice the text blocks you will see that this transmogrified image has no background color in either, while the image with authentic coloring has text blocks of two different colors, putting to rest your theory of the other print being "faded". It also matches in that respect the other prints on the Yoshitoshi page in the Wikipedia.

While I agree with you that the original print may not be to modern popular tastes, please bear in mind that it is a depiction of a meditative environment, and at night. Your average dojo is not a place to suit the common taste either, colorless as it is, to say nothing about the other meditative techniques. Please provide a source for your image so that we can verify it is authentic. I am willing to believe anything but I need to see some proof first. Otherwise I'll have to consider it a prank of some kind - perhaps you have been taken in by someone. Haiduc 03:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
