Countercurrent exchange conservation circuit

Is there an error in this figure? Why does the flow cool from 20 to 19 as it goes through the U-turn? The leftmost red arrows imply that heat is being added at that point. Maybe was the vertical flow supposed to be colder than u-turn flow? Spiel496 (talk) 00:21, 23 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes you are correct. Either (a) the number inside the leftmost down-pointing arrow should be 18 and the small red arrows moving the other way, showing a minimal loss of energy to the environment at the loop, or (b) pumps should be shown close to the loop, actively moving heat/solvant back from the outgoing to the incoming stream. I don't have time to fix it now. The diagram is used in heat exchange. Either we temporarily remove it. (The terribly wrong countercurrent exchange currently is without it, and fare's well without it) or someone fixes it. Thanks!! I'll probably get to it this month, and do an overhaul on the whole subject, getting it straight. Pashute (talk) 03:39, 25 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
