"Membership possible" would include Russia and Greenland. Greenland in the same way as Cyprus and if Russia (and maybe even Kazakstan) is taken as political likelihood (which is a bad idea) then Belarus at least must also be discounted. How about covering all as those which fulfil the geographic criteria?- J.Logan(t): 09:32, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's a bit difficult, but beside article 49 of the Amsterdam Treaty there are the Copenhagen criteria, that exclude imho Russia ("Aufnahmefähigkeit" = capacitance?). As an alternative one can use this map:
Map of Europe (political)

The en:Eastern Partnership emphasizes the plausibility of the map:

Eastern Partnership

Oblast Kaliningrad edit

Ich möchte, dass auch die Oblast Kaliningrad grün gefärbt wird. --88.78.230.65 15:22, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dann sprech mal mit Putin, ob er Königsberg an Deutschland "zurück" gibt. Die Karte orientiert sich an dem aktuellen Grenzverlauf, d.h. Kaliningrad ist ein Teil von Russland. --Kolja21 (talk) 17:07, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Kaliningrad isn't (yet) an independent country. I think the map would become too complex - and pass into original research - if it were to include countries that don't even exist yet! 87.115.10.221 12:01, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Greenland edit

Having withdrawn from the EU in 1985 after a dispute over fishing rights, I think it's very unlikely it would want to return to the EU. Are there any sources that speculate that it would? Otherwise I think it should be unshaded. --000peter (talk) 22:00, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

True, it's unlikely, but Greenland already have been a member so it's possible that they will become a member again. That's all this map is saying. (Switzerland is not intending to become a member as well and Belarus has - at the moment - no chance at all.) --Kolja21 (talk) 02:37, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
