This file is clearly under copyright by WiFi Alliance (hence the little (R) in the upper right corner) and the logo can only be used by members of the WiFi Alliance. Have a look at their brand usage details: [Brand usage]
This file should be removed from the commons!
You are right! I thought this was a PD symbol just to show what is Wi-fi or not. Yet this symbol is simple enough to be copyrightable. See Threshold of originality and Image_casebook Trademarks. Per the United States Copyright Office: "familiar symbols or designs; mere variations of typographic ornamentation, lettering, or coloring ... typeface as typefaced are not subject to copyright.Mizunoryu 大熊猫❤小熊猫 (talk) 14:42, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
