English: The Flaming Mountains are near Turfan, close to Bezeklik caves.

The name come from a "supposed" appearance to fire flames due to their shape and colours.
An old chinese legend, "The journey to the West", based on the life of a 16th century buddhist monk, Xuan Zang, which was later compiled by writers from the Ming dinasty, tells a story about a monkey that helped monks to pass the "Inferno flaming mountains", extinguishing the fire with a palm-tree fan given away by the Iron Fan Princess.

Close to these mountains, there is a touristic museum with statues, paintings and bas-reliefs which represent legend scenes.

Español: Montañas en llamas o Montañas flamígeras. Se encuentran cerca de Turpan, próximas a las cuevas de Bezeklik.

Por su forma y colorido se supone que parecen estar "en llamas". Hay una antigua leyenda basada en la vida del monje budista del siglo XVI Xuan Zang que luego fue recopilada por escritores de la dinastía Ming situada en dichas montañas. La historia cuenta que el monje trataba de atravesar las montañas que eran un infierno de fuego y fue ayudado por un mono que obtuvo un abanico de hoja de palma de la Princesa "Abanico de Hierro" (Iron Fan) con el que apagó las llamas.

Junto a las montañas se ha abierto un museo turístico que cuenta con bajorrelieves que representan escenas de la leyenda, esculturas y pinturas.
