Johann Heinrich Müntz

September 1727 in Mülhausen/Mulhouse; gest. Mai 1798 in Kassel, war ein deutsch-schweizerischer Portrait- und Landschaftsmaler, Architekturzeichner, Radierer, Baumeister und Gartengestalter, tätig in ganz Europa.
English: Johann Heinrich Müntz, english: John Henry Muntz, french: Jean-Henri Müntz, polish: Jana Henryka Müntza, ukrainian: Жан-Анры Мюнц or Жаном Анрі Мюнцом, * September 28th 1727 in Mülhausen in the Alsace region (at that time the city of Mülhausen belongs to the Deutsches Reich, but is associated with the Old Swiss Confederacy; today it is named Mulhouse and belongs to France); † May 1798 in Kassel, Germany. A german-swiss born officer in the french army and trained civil engineer, who later worked throughout Europe as an extremely versatile and skilled artist. He created some portraits and many landscape paintings, architectural drawings, etchings, some interior design works, buildings and gardens, also he published about encaustic, and gothic architecture. Horace Walpole employed him at Strawberry Hill from 1755 to 1759.
