Case 1: Hip joint edit

A femur head removed during a total hip replacement. Severe osteochondritis dissecans, due to advanced avascular necrosis, is apparent in the articular cartilage. Damage to the articular cartilage and underlying subchondral bone includes a large flap, additional fractures, and numerous "erosion" spots (red, below the flap in 1c and 1d).
