Routemaster bus RM1000

English: Routemaster bus RM1000 (reg. 100 BXL) was delivered to London Transport in October 1961, as the 1,000th Routemaster (after 4 complete prototypes and 3 test rigs, production of the RM class proper began with numbers assigned from RM8, and by the time RM1000 had been produced, had also included the initial batch of RML buses numbered RML880 to RML903 within the RM series). After regular service in London, from January 1982 it served as the Croydon (code TC) bus garage, being maintained in top condition for exhibitions, and seeing just intermittent normal service. While assigned as a showbus, it had its Leyland engine swapped for an AEC one. It was withdrawn from service in June 1985, and in June 1987 was sold into preservation with the RM1000 Group.
