This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty.

The World Heritage Site "Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty" in South Korea is divided into 18 clusters having a total of 40 royal tombs of the rulers and their consorts from the Joseon Dynasty who ruled Korea from 1392 to 1910.

Donggureung-Cluster edit

The Donggureung-Cluster is located in Inchang-dong, Guri-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Geonwolleung edit

Geonwolleung is the tomb of King Taejo (Joseon’s 1st monarch, 1408)

Hyeolleung edit

Hyeolleung is the tomb of King Munjong (Joseon’s 5th monarch, 1422) and Queen Hyeondeok (Munjong’s consort, 1420).

Mongneung edit

Mongneung is the tomb of King Seonjo (Joseon’s 14th monarch, 1608), Queen Uiin (Seonjo’s 1st consort, 1600), and Queen Inmok (Seonjo’s 2nd consort, 1632).

Hwireung edit

Hwireung is the tomb of Queen Jangnyeol (Injo’s 2nd consort, 1688).

Sungneung edit

Sungneung is the tomb of King Hyeonjong (Joseon’s 18th monarch, 1674) and Queen Myeongseong (Hyeonjong’s consort, 1684).

Hyereung edit

Hyereung is the tomb of Queen Danui (Gyeongjong’s 1st consort, 1718).

Wolleung edit

Wolleung is the tomb of King Yeongjo (Joseon’s 21st monarch, 1776) and Queen Jeongsun (Yeongjo’s 2nd consort, 1805).

Gyeongneung edit

Gyeongneung is the tomb of King Heonjong (Joseon’s 24th monarch, 1849), Queen Hyohyeon (Heonjong’s 1st consort, 1843), and Queen Hyojeong (Heonjong’s 2nd consort, 1904).

Sureung edit

Sureung is the tomb of King Munjo (Heonjong’s father and posthumously given the title of king, 1855) and Queen Sinjeong (Munjo’s consort).

Hongyureung-Cluster edit

The Hongyureung-Cluster is located in Geumgok-dong, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Hongneung is the tomb of Emperor Gojong (Joseon’s 26th monarch, 1919) and Empress Myeongseong (Gojong’s consort).

Yureung edit

Yureung is the tomb of Emperor Sunjong (Joseon’s 27th monarch, 1926), Empress Sunmyeong (Sunjong’s 1st consort, 1926), and Empress Sunjeong (Sunjong’s 2nd consort, 1966).
