- Structure

Part in the abundant Sheltie coat exhibiting the clearness of undercoat even when the sabling is heavy--the eumelanin is restricted to tips only. Agouti would have banded hair with tips. -
Even heavier sable. Length of overcoat leads to the black pigment "falling" down the sides.
- Combination patterns

Extremely clear cream sable. Black pigment is visible on the whiskers on the left side. Blue eye may suggest cryptic merle pattern. -
Same dog, side view. Peculiar uneven pigmentation on body is further indication of merle presence. -
Short coat with medium sabling, readily visible merle pattern.
