Synagogue Memorial Hildesheim

Das Hildesheimer Synagogenmahnmal von 1988 ist eine Skulptur in Würfelform auf dem Lappenberg an der Stelle, wo sich bis zur Pogromnacht 1938 die Synagoge befand. Der Würfel zeigt Bilder und Texte, die die Geschichte Israels symbolisieren: Erwählung, Befreiung, Thora, Glaube und Übertretung, Verfolgung und Hoffnung.

The Synogogue Memorial of Hildesheim is a vast cube erected in 1988 on the Lappenberg place where there had been the synagogue until the pogromes of 1938. The cube is covered with images and texts symbolizing the history of Israel: election, liberation, Thorah, faith and transgression, persecution and hope.
