Usage edit

Add the prefix and suffix as shown in the example below.

{{US cities|prefix=:Namespace:Prefix text|suffix=suffix text}}

Example: For the category "Seasons in Buffalo, New York", add the following to the top of Category:Seasons in Buffalo, New York:

{{US cities|prefix=:Category:Seasons in}}

For the category "Seasons in Buffalo, New York by year", add the following to the top of Category:Seasons in Buffalo, New York by year:

{{US cities|prefix=:Category:Seasons in|suffix=by year}}

The scope of this template is the first 100 cities in the List of United States cities by population. Do not try to widen the scope of the template by shoehorning your favorite city on to the list by using any criterion other than the latest population estimate. If you want to provide navigation for a city that is not in the 100 most populous cities in the United States, please use one of the following or create a new state-specific template:
